CUSTOM TALISMAN + AMULETS

As a Silversmith and Astrologer, I have a distinct way of combining these two skills: I create Talisman or Amulets with my client’s current life goals in mind. I help them bring in imagery that is representative of the psychological work they’re doing. In jewelry form goals are made tangible. Every time you run your fingers along them or hear the clink of metal, you’re reminded of what you want to accomplish. Put simply, a talisman attracts and an amulet repels or protects against something.

My Talisman and Amulets are an invocation of the archetypes they represent. Common archetypes are the stripped down, concentrated versions of myth and folklore. They are the bones of religion and cultural tales or traditions. Learning these stories and reproducing them in this way helps me tap into the human experience without appropriating cultures that don’t belong to me. In astrology we see these tales played out in the patterns of the planets and stars.

Should you desire, the planning phase of your Talisman or Amulet will include an astrological consultation to help make suggestions as to what design might best fit your overall goal. And the delivery will include a custom written ritual to activate and connect with your piece. This service is optional, but since I have the skill I’m happy to weave it in. Please contact me to inquire about a custom piece. I offer them on a limited basis.

This custom work has a $300 minimum, which includes a $100 deposit to be paid before the reading/consultation. The final price of the piece varies depending on time and material. For an estimate of final pricing for those who already have materials in mind, please email ashtamber@gmail.com

The following Emerald Talisman was made for someone who had Venus in detriment in her chart and wanted to intentionally channel that energy in order to make positive changes.

“Love and money are the same thing.” she was once told. She tried to buck the hell out of the statement. A blue collar upbringing had her programmed to think everything required a hammer. That practicality should reign supreme. Those words festered in her until they composted  into usable soil. Devotion was at their root.

We looked at her stars and saw Venus in detriment. You don’t have to know to know, if you’ve gotten this far. She wanted a piece that enchanted her into her daily rituals, reminded her that devotion doesn’t always lead to disappointment or self loss. Beauty is fucking impractical—but there’s nothing wrong with that. We picked an emerald for this one and engraved a glyph on the back. Left a rugged base, not too shiny, lest we forget how we got here. She didn’t want big and showy. She wanted something petite that she could drag along it’s chain unconsciously like her grandmothers counted rosary beads. Her was strategy pulled from her brain and made into a tangible thing.
